Here are the advice of a recent graduate on the career path after finishing university.

Years spent in ** college or university can be really hard and stressful ** for a student. You spend whole days attending classes and studying, you have no money and you can't wait for everything to end by having a full-time job and enjoying your salary. In the real world, however, things are not like that at all. As soon as I finished my studies and entered the world of work, I quickly realized that ** student life was not that bad ** and that what at school had not prepared me for what was waiting for me. Here are 5 lessons on life as a recent graduate after school.

** 1. School is tough, but not that hard **

Like any student, you will see school as a cage. You will consider exams, nights on books, intense study and projects to be delivered as nightmares until you declare ** "I can't wait for my graduation and for everything to end" **. But in reality, life as a student is not remotely comparable to life as a worker. There is the possibility that when you work you will have to do it even at night and you will have to spend weekends in the office, much more than when you were at school. What's worse is that you will have to go through this every morning and you will have to say goodbye to days off, sleep late in the morning and so many other luxuries you could afford as a student.

**2. If you think you earn a lot, you are wrong **

I knew almost immediately that my ** salary expectations ** were going to be disappointed. Regardless of the educational qualification, the wages will depend on the ** experience ** that you will be able to obtain. I also realized that the expenses of adults are very high (apartment, shopping, etc) and you will hardly be able to save money initially.

** 3. Adult life is more expensive than you imagine **

During my time in college I was lucky enough to have my parents help me financially, in addition to my ** OSAP loan . Even though I had in mind how much life could cost, once I graduated I discovered the harsh reality. Unless you live in your parents' house, with current prices ** you will be lucky to break even every month . The thing that comforted me was that I wasn't the only one, my friends were in the same situation too. This is why we must be prepared to face such situations.

** 4. Finding work is very tiring **

When I graduated I thought that my degree was a pass to a safe job. I was sure ** my degree could appeal to companies , but it didn't really happen that way. I spent many months browsing and ** applying for job offers , 7 days a week, until I got the first one. Finding work requires additional work and dealing with waste is always difficult. I thought for a while that I had everything wrong and wasted years and money on education, but being optimistic is the only thing that kept me going.

** 5. You may be a good recent graduate, but you are not the only one **

Even if you're the best in your class, involved in clubs, and great at what you do, this ** doesn't make you better than everyone else . You must always start from the assumption that no matter how good you are, there is always someone better than you. It can be tough to accept this truth, especially the first few times you face interviews that you think went well and then don't hear from you again, but it's in these moments that ** you have to work even harder to make a career change .
